Advanced productivity tools - Excel VBA quality of a dataset

Advanced productivity tools

Advanced productivity tools are an essential part of our everyday work. Today we entirely depend on information technology to keep track of our business activities. Computers are a necessary part of every working environment. Productivity tools are a particular class of computer software. Of course, Microsoft office is one of the best-known representatives of this group.

We are using this tool every day. MS Word for correspondence, PowerPoint for presentation, Outlook for email, and calendars. We use Excel for keeping track of the flow of our business. Often, we do have some ERP or CRM app, but still, we tend to help ourselves with an Excel table here or there.

As our business grows, the demands for complex tables grow with it. To keep our Excel table up to the task, we are using the VBA programming language to sort out more complex tasks.

Also, as we need more and more reporting features, at some point in time, Excel only will be too limited for our needs. Then we use Power BI, or similar programs for reports, dashboards, and other visualizations.

My field of expertize

Throughout the years, adding these features to my own business, I developed the skills and experience. I am now able to help others in their quest for better and more understandable and useful data.

Excel

For more than twenty years, I have been building spreadsheets for all of my and my client’s business needs.  I am confident I can effectively work out issues within the required time. My expertise includes extensive data analysis, data conversion, and alignment. I regularly use VBA for job automation. Also, I am skilled in MS Power BI and Google Data Studio for visualizing reports.

VBA

As I said before, at some point, Excel itself has proven to be a limiting factor in my analysis. That was the point that I decided to learn the VBA language for programming in Excel. It works for Word as well. VBA is particularly vital if you need to do some batch processing of your excel data or even data from other sources, and make some final table. It also can be used to develop useful entry forms. The most important thing I learned using VBA is the importance of well-documented code. Otherwise, after a few months, no one would know what we wanted to do in our program.

Visualizations

Excel itself has great visualizing features, a lot of graphs, and even query options. Still, for the best experience, it is best to use Power BI. This is also one of the advanced productivity tools. With its DAX language, it is possible to connect a lot of different data sources. Moreover, you can combine them in complex queries, thus producing very useful visualizations of your data. Of course, you can use queries while making pivot tables in Excel as well, and this will give you a significant advantage in your quest to tackle your data.

It is the area where I can help.
